Saturday Book Review: David Reuben’s “Islamic Tsunami”

For today’s book review, I give you David Reuben’s book “The Islamic Tsunami”. In this work, Reuben begins by giving a detailed description of the history of Islam and how it has been a catalyst for violence since its beginning. He discusses everything from Muhammad’s life to modern Islam, and he gives strong and poignant stories to back up his belief that Islam has been a major reason for violence in the world since its conception. After all, he wants to know what led to the praises that many Muslims sang after the attacks on the United States on September 11, 2001.

Reuben has a personal reason for writing this book though, which makes it even more compelling. Living in Israel, Reuben’s son was injured by a Palestinian bomb during the conflict in the region. Using this story, he slowly starts to craft that, while some Muslims are peaceful, other Muslims use the religion to perpetrate hatred and violence against their fellow humans. He then goes on to cover exactly what the Quran teaches, and he uses that to show why some Muslims have used their holy book to excuse their violence.

One of the most interesting parts of the book is when Reuben addresses how Islam has been a catalyst for antisemitism since its conception. He uses detailed stories and writings from the Muslim faith to show that dislike of Jewish people has been a keystone of the Muslim faith since day one. Some of what you will read about this is shocking, but it is very informative to one who is not knowledgeable about the Islamic faith.

The main point of Reuben’s book though is that the Obama administration is slowly starting to let extreme Islamic ideologies become more and more accepted. Reuben recounts Obama’s speech in Egypt and his lackluster support for Israel as examples to the way Obama sees extremist Muslims around the world. Why is Obama like this though? Well, Reuben recounts a close connection between Obama, Muslims, and even Saudi Arabia, and it will surprise you to read some of the information that Reuben shares. It is truly enlightening, and it will have you looking at the world in a different way.

So I suggest you read his book when you get a chance to find out about everything Reuben covers on the issue because it truly is a lot of information. From Obama’s ties with Islam to the history of the Muslim faith, it will keep your attention throughout. It is a must read for any supporter of Israel or conservative, and it will educate you on how modern Islam has come about. I highly recommend it, and I can assure you that it will be a fascinating read.

Today’s Big Rainbow Push: DOMA and Prop 8 Struck Down

Today was a historic day for the rights of GLBT Americans across our country. In two cases, which have been highly anticipated for the last few weeks, the Supreme Court of the United States sided with the rights of gays and lesbians. While many conservatives around the country are outraged by this decision, I am excited to see a country that is shifting towards more love and understanding. We learned a lot from today’s decision, and I will try to cover the big picture in this post.

For one, we learned that DOMA, which has been in place since the 1990s’ is out of date and out of touch. In the case brought before the court, Edie Windsor was fighting the fact that she had to pay extra taxes after her female partner’s death when she would not have to pay those taxes if she was married to a man. The court stated in its opinion that the fact that she had to pay these taxes was unconstitutional, and it had some strong language that may lead to bigger victories in gay rights in the upcoming days. The opinion also put strong emphasis on the fact that federal recognition of GLBT families, which DOMA outlawed, should occur, and it threw a wrench into the idea that gays are less than their heterosexual counterparts in the eyes of the federal government.

The second ruling the court reached today stated that Prop 8, a California law to ban same-sex marriage, was unconstitutional. In the court’s opinion, they stated that the court’s decision in California, which found the state’s ban on gay marriage to be unconstitutional, was valid. In laymen’s terms, they pretty much said that California’s going to be getting gay marriage pretty soon. This means that Cali will be the thirteenth state where gay marriage is legal, and it gives the gay rights movement one more big push into the future.

What surprised a LOT of people in the Prop 8 case was exactly how the judges voted. Especially the fact that Sotomayor, one of the most liberal judges on the court, went against her colleagues and sided with the people of California who voted to outlaw same-sex marriage in 2008. The reason she voted the way that she did is unknown, but I’m sure the answer will be coming out sooner rather than later. It is, after all, the biggest question of today, and this issue will be in the media for weeks to come.

In the meantime, it’s time for all of us to celebrate a major victory. Yes, I am a conservative, and I am happy at the decision the court made. While there are some within my movement who are angry and bitter over the decision, the fact is that there are slowly becoming more conservatives like me who are standing up for tolerance and justice for all. It’s the only way we are going to be able to ensure “liberty and justice for all” in the future, and it’s the only way that we can truly say that we stand for the constitution as a movement. Today was a victory for all, and it truly is a historic day in American history.

Travelling Man: Edward Snowden Is On The Move

Since leaking information that he obtained from the Department of Justice, Edward Snowden  has been on a worldwide run from the United States government. His first stop after being charged with espionage was Hong Kong, but that stay didn’t last long. After leaving Asia, Snowden took off on a flight to the Land of The Czars, where Prime Minister Putin gave him refuge in Moscow. Now, the U.S. government is trying to do everything in their power to get Snowden back to the United States to be tried,

That is most likely not going to happen though. Putin has said that Moscow will be a safe place for Snowden until he can find another country who will harbor him, and it looks like Ecuador, who is now harboring Wikileaks poster boy and alleged rapist Julian Assange in their British embassy, will gladly give Snowden a home. If Ecuador doesn’t come through, Cuba and Venezuela are other possible places Snowden can find refuge in. These countries, who I now consider to be enemies of the United States, have railed against the U.S. in the past, and they are now taking more and more steps to show what their true colors are.

Snowden Makes News in Hong Kong

Snowden, in the meantime, continues to captivate the American media and set up for the book he will most likely write to become a bestseller. CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and other networks have pretty much given him twenty-four hour coverage, and this means that he will be another American “hero” to liberals like Bradley Manning and Obama’s terrorist friends from the 1970’s. It’s the reality of the situation, and it will only probably grow worse in years to go. After all, those who betray the United States are now considered somehow heroic, and they should never be charged with a crime according to liberals.

What happens when you even talk about charging somebody with a crime after they leaked information that was confidential and could put our nation’s security at risk? Well, after David Gregory asked Glenn Greenwald  if he should be charged for publishing the original Justice Department story, which came to out Snowden as the one who distributed the information, Greenwald pretty much had a fit and did a whole “how dare you?” act on the air. This shows that, in modern America, traitors think that they are above the law, and it shows that we need to do a lot of work in our country to keep it a country where we can keep the secrets that need to be kept.

In the meantime, we must live in fear of what will come out next. Yes, as I have said in the past, I think that the information about the government spy program should have been revealed, but I also think that Snowden is going to be leaking confidential information that could put our safety at risk before you know it. After all, he is now becoming chummy with some of the nations that hate us the most, and it is probably not free of cost. It probably cost information, and it makes our country vulnerable to attacks. Only through bringing Snowden to justice can we make it so that our country can regain some sense of safety, and we can move on to continue to build our legacy as one of the other greatest countries on earth.

Paula Deen’s Firing: The Reason I Won’t Be Watching The Food Network Ever Again

Throughout life, we are all faced with challenges. We are born into families with preconceived notions and beliefs, and they sometimes cause us to see the world in a certain way. Sometimes those views are wrong, and it is our responsibility to learn and grow to be open-minded and loving individuals. This growing is truly American, and it shows that where we come doesn’t always affect where we can go.

Paula Deen
(Image Via http://www.abcnewsgo.com)

That is, unless you are Paula Deen and the liberal media is attacking you. Deen, who is one of the most beloved faces on the Food Network, stated in a court document that she had used the “N” word in the 1980s, and a media firestorm began immediately. Liberals began to claim that she is a racist bigot, and the liberal media aided these hooligans in having their point legitimized. First, Deen was asked to give an apology, but, after she decided to do it on her own terms instead of with The Today Show, the Food Network announced it would not renew her contract.

Yes, liberal idiots caused a hard working woman to lose her job. Mrs. Deen was wrong in using the word, but the fact that she could not recall saying it since the 1980’s shows that she is far from racist. She was raised in the segregation era in the south, and she had to learn that what she had been taught as a child was wrong. Once she learned that, she quit saying the word, and she apologized for saying it. Therefore, I see no reason for her to be under any scrutiny, and I certainly do not think that the Food Network should have dropped her.

That’s why I have decided I will not be watching the Food Network anymore. I watch it often, but I will no longer be watching it after I saw the idiotic way they have handled the situation with Paula Deen. They are nothing but bigots who have taken the dreams of a woman who has worked hard to get to where she is today and shattered them because of a mistake that she made thirty years ago. They, and their sister network The Food Channel, are disgusting, and I am urging you all not to watch them as well. That’s the only way we can teach them that their actions are wrong, and make things a little bit right for Paula Deen and anyone else who has made a mistake throughout their lives.

Saturday Book Review: Bill O’Reilly’s “Culture Warrior”

For today’s book review, I am going to be taking on Bill O’Reilly’s book “Culture Warrior”. Mr. O’Reilly, one of the most influential conservative talking heads on television, released this book in 2006, and it has been a road map for conservatism ever since. I would recommend this book to any tried and true conservative who wants their values lined out for them in a very clear manner, but it is also a great read for any newbies to the movement who want to learn what its about. It’s easy to read so it’s good for all ages, and it will confirm and challenge beliefs that you may have about what’s going on in society.

One of the best chapters in “Culture Warrior” is where O’Reilly addresses the war on Christmas that has been raging in America. O’Reilly doesn’t act like a crazy conservative, who sees Christmas as fleeing fast, but he clearly relates the war on Christmas to the religious attacks that have become prevalent in our country in modern times. Through making this connection, O’Reilly brings the “War On Christmas” debate to a whole new level, and he makes it more than just an issue about “Merry Christmas” versus “Happy Holidays”.

O’Reilly doesn’t only address that issue in his book though. One by one, he tackles some of the most heated issues of today, and he does it with a sharp tongue and witty personality that brings a whole new life to a potentially boring debate. All in all, you will walk away feeling extremely interested in conservatism and politics after reading this book, and you will have learned many new things. It’s a great read, and I highly recommend it.

George Zimmerman Gets His Jury….Consisting Only Of Females

I thought that I would write a quick post today since I’ve been sick, and I found a story that I really wanted to just get your opinion about. We all know the story of Trayvon Martin. The African American teenager was shot by George Zimmerman after they got in a confrontation one night in Florida. While Zimmerman claims he acted in self-defense, Martin’s family believe that he was the victim of a racially motivated murder, and George Zimmerman is now being charged with second degree murder.

(Image Via abcnews.go.com)

Today, the jury for Zimmerman’s upcoming trial was revealed, and it consisted of all females (save for two alternates who are male). Additionally, all but one of the jury members are white, and the race of the nonwhite jury member is not specified. So, after hearing all this, do you think that Zimmerman’s chances of getting convicted are better or worse with an all female, all white jury? I think that the fact that the jury is female will make it more likely that Zimmerman will be convicted, but I think the fact that they are all white may make his chances of walking a lot more probable.

What do you think? Leave your comments below.

Also, there’s a poll below if you don’t want to leave a comment but still want your opinion heard.

Obama’s Numbers Show’s He Isn’t All That Popular Anymore

A new poll came out today that showed Obama’s approval has gone down the gutter in recent weeks. The poll, which showed the President’s popularity now at only 46 percent surprised many in the media, and it left many wondering what kind of legacy Obama would leave. The largest group of people who had a drop in their views of the President was young people, and this goes to show that Obama is no longer immune from being the ever popular President he thought he would be. After all, he has betrayed the younger generation, and this has put him at risk of losing his star status.

Why the sudden decline though? To me, the answer is simple. Obama has betrayed America’s youth in the most obvious way by going into their Facebook, Twitter, and other accounts to glean information. This makes the younger generation, including myself, wary of what exactly the administration has been up to, and it shows that Obama’s presidency is basically George W. 2.0. After all, he is still violating the rights of the American people, and he is continuing the neglect of his duties as President to respect his people’s privacy.

What does Obama need to do then to get the popularity he once garnered though? Well, an apology wouldn’t hurt. He has been stubborn in admitting that The Justice Department scandal was wrong, and he is acting like he thinks that he is all powerful and untouchable. If he would take a second and remember that he still is suppose to respect the rights and privacy of his people, he may be able to undo the injustices that his administration has already committed and make his poll numbers go back up.

In the meantime, Obama can only hope and pray that the youth of America will forgive him for demeaning their rights. Those who have had their social media, phone conversations, and other communications monitored are upset, and it will take a lot for them to forgive Obama and his administration of “hope and change” for the injustice they have faced. These people have had their voice heard this week by this poll, and it shows that the youth of America will not sit silently while they are taken advantage of by their government.
