Saturday Book Review: Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum Series

I thought that for today’s book review, I would step outside the realm of politics and into something a little bit more fun. When thinking about what exactly to write about, many authors and books crossed my mind, but one really struck me as the perfect books to suggest for summer reading.  Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series is the perfect solution to get you in gear for a summer of literary fun.

The series chronicles the life of Stephanie Plum who used to work in the lingerie business, but, after being fired from her job, she decides to take up bounty hunting. The series chronicles her different bounty hunting jobs as she looks for wanted individuals all over New Jersey. Her new career takes her to a lot of different places though. In the series, she looks for bad guys at cooking competitions, the swamps of New Jersey, and a whole lot of other places, and she and her sidekick, Lula, have fun while they do it.

Lula ads another dimension to the book that will have you giving a great big belly laugh while reading. Stephanie meets her on a job, and they quickly become a team. A former prostitute, this plus-size diva’s love of food and no-nonsense attitude will have you on the floor laughing. She makes the series, and she is just one more reason that I recommend these books.

Lastly, I would just like to say to not let the movie fool you. The series was made into a film starring Katherine Heigl and Sherri Shepherd, and it received not all that great reviews at the box office. That’s because it didn’t stay true to the book, and it really let me down. The books (unlike the movies) are funny, entertaining, and excellent, and I definitely recommend them. Also, with 19 books in the series plus holiday editions of the series, these books will keep you reading all summer long.

May God Bless America And Happy Reading,
