Thanksgiving Is Over, Time For The War On Christmas

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. I hope you ate well and got caught up on sleep because, conservatives, we have to get ready for the War On Christmas. Ever since the liberals took over everything from the White House to Hollywood, religious liberties have slowly been stripped away, and the pinnacle of this can be seen in the War On Christmas that has been taking over America since sometime shortly after Kennedy got elected. With the help of corporations and the liberal media, they have succeeded in getting this past. Well, it’s time for us to fight back and reclaim our “Merry Christmas” instead of “Happy Holidays”.  It will be a harsh fight, but I know that we can win it by sticking together against those heathens who would rather us say “Happy Holidays”.

Well, that’s how most conservative bloggers out there would characterize the “War On Christmas”, but I am different than them. I have friends of all religions including, but not limited to, atheists, those of the Jewish faith, pagans, and others. We all celebrate our holidays this month in our own individual ways, and no one has a problem with the other celebrating the holiday that belongs to their particular faith. As conservatives, we need to learn how to do this more. You know, live together in harmony with others. Yes, we can still have strong opinions, but we just can’t prevent them from trying to hush the opinions of others because, after all, freedom of speech is a basic principle of our country.

I say all this to say, what is all the hoopla about? I am not going to get offended if the sales clerk at my local store wishes me “Happy Holidays” instead of “Merry Christmas” mainly because I am strong in my faith, and them telling me “Happy Holidays” is not going to lessen my faith one iota. At the same time, I’m not going to say that those of us who are Christians shouldn’t say “Merry Christmas” at all because we should have that right just as others should have the right to wish anybody they want “Happy Hanukkah”, “Wonderful Solstice”, or anything else they wish because we all have freedom of speech and should be able to use it.

So imagine, a world where we could wish anybody a great holiday, regardless of their faith. Whether it be Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah, or Solstice, we could wish everybody great luck and a good holiday, and we would all be okay with it. It would be a great world, and there would be no need for people to complain about a so-called “War On Christmas”. After all, with all the trouble going on throughout the world, one less war would be a great thing in my humble opinion.

And Happy Hanukkah to everyone out there!

Power Trip: How Democrats’ Nuclear Option Proves Their Love Of Power, Lack Of Respect For The American People

Checks and balances are important to the freedom that we have as Americans. One of the most important checks and balances that we have is for our politicians to filibuster a bill that they think will harm our country. It ensures that a party won’t go rogue and force their ideologies down the throats of Americans, and it gives politicians the chance to have their constituents voices heard. While this institution used to be part of the fabric of American political systems (Anyone Seen Mr. Smith Goes To Washington?), it is now coming under attack by Obama and the Democrats.

The Senate Democrats just showed their support for something called the nuclear option. Under this new rule, a filibuster can be stopped by a Senate majority of 51 votes instead of the current 60 votes. Therefore, whatever party is in power gets to override filibusters for certain situations. Obama and liberals want to use this to make it simpler to get nominees passed, and it shows that power is their number one priority. After all, they are changing a basic tool of the checks and balances of the political systems on a whim to cater to their own interests.

Only a few years ago, things were different though. According to CNN, Obama and other liberals did not want the nuclear option to be implemented when the Republicans had control. They even talked about how awful it was that Republicans even thought about it. Nowadays, they have changed their tune on the issue, and they are supporting it because they are the ones who are in power. It’s hypocritical, but, then again, it’s politics.

That’s why we, as conservatives, must stand up for the checks and balances that our forefathers put in by our forefathers to protect our liberties. While the Democrats are the ones who are trying to implement it now, our party did it a few years ago, but no matter what party tries to pass it, it is fundamentally wrong. After all, if we changed laws we didn’t like just because it was convenient at the time, we would be living in a rogue society. That is not what I, or most people want, and only by protecting the basic checks and balances in our government that we can give our children and grandchildren a land where they can live with the same freedoms that we have been given.

A Note To My Fellow Conservatives: Button Up The Sexism

While most of my posts deal with liberal ideologies that I disagree with, this post is for my fellow conservatives. Recently, at a Republican convention in California, buttons were sold that had sexist remarks toward Hillary Clinton on them. They said something to the affect of “Hillary KFC Special; 2 Fat Thighs,Two Small Breasts, Left Wing”. While not even being humorous (unless you’re an eighth grader I guess), these buttons made our party look bad. Liberal media outlet after liberal media outlet wrote about the story, and they used this instance to reiterate the claim that our party is one stuck in the past. If we continue to present ourselves with this image, we are going to fail as a party because no one under thirty-five is going to want to vote for a party with a checkered past of sexism.

I know. You will say that Democrats have done similar, if not worse things, to conservatives, but the fact of the matter is that shouldn’t matter. We need to be the bigger person when it comes to dealing with liberals, and this means not using dehumanizing attacks against our opponents. If we want to criticize Hillary Clinton, it should be on her flawed political thinking, not her body, and focusing on her body as a talking point only makes us look weak as a party. So my fellow conservatives, let’s get our act together. We don’t need any more under the belt attacks against liberals. We need a strong party message and to attack liberals where they are wrong politically. If we do this, we may just have a chance at a bright future as a party, but, if we don’t, conservatism may become extinct before we know it.  After all, Hillary may run in 2016, and this could be a great talking point on how we conservatives are out of date and out of touch.

ShutDown: Government Comes To A Close Because Obama And Liberals Won’t Budge On Obamacare

Here it is folks. It’s day number two of the federal government’s shutdown, and the sky still hasn’t fallen. In fact, the stock market rose yesterday. While liberals in the media blame all of this on Republicans, I think that most Americans aren’t really affected by the government shutdown in any major way. Yes, they may have had to push back their trips to our national monuments or stay out of D.C., but it hasn’t really had a drastic impact on the lives of every day Americans. Instead, regardless of what the CNN or MSNBC polls say, I think that more Americans will be glad if the government shutdown prevents Obamacare from going into affect.

Just look at the recent clip from “Jimmy Kimmel Live” where he took to the streets of Los Angeles to ask people if they liked Obamacare or The Affordable Care Act better (they are the same thing), and, while the people answering the questions were made to look like idiots, the fact of the matter is that they did not want Obamacare to go into affect. The overwhelming reason that they did not want this occurring was because of the socialist mandate in Obamacare that states that everyone has to have health insurance. We live in America, not Russia, and we don’t want to be forced to purchase something by our government. We want to be able to have our rights, and Obamacare strips us of some of our rights.

That’s why, while the liberal media melts down over the government shutdown, I feel that most Americans could give two hoots about whether or not D.C. is open for business or not as long as Obamacare does not go into affect. In fact, I feel that, when all is said and done, Democrats are going to be the ones to blame. They aren’t even open to talking to Republicans to come to a compromise because they are afraid it will cause the insurance companies, who are backing them and Obamacare, to think less of them, and, when all is said and done, cause them to lose money. They can say Obamacare is going to protect Americans from special interest groups, but it does just the opposite. Look at how a lot of the major health care companies’ stocks (those that supported Obama’s health care law) have risen since Obamacare passed because the whole thing was passed by special interests.

Republicans are the ones coming to the table wanting to have a spirited and American debate, but Democrats are the ones saying “NO”. No matter how much Obama and his liberal henchmen want to twist this around in the media, the simple fact is that Obama and liberals are to blame for the government shutdown. Yes, they may have the media sticking up for them saying that they are not the ones to blame, but just because propaganda is put out into the world doesn’t make it true. Just ask anybody who has lived in a dictatorship.

In the meantime, the government remains shutdown, and I have a feeling it won’t be opening for business anytime soon. This does not worry me in the least. Instead, I am relieved that there are people in Washington who don’t want to see our government turned into the next socialist Russia or China. While they are being turned into villains by the media, they are nothing short of true American heroes who are risking the way they are viewed to protect this country for years to come. I applaud them today, and I am wishing you all a happy second day of the government shutdown.

After Egypt’s Deadly Week, U.S. Should Cut Funding

This weeks Egypt erupted into chaos after the military led government violently broke up protest against the Muslim Brotherhood. Hundreds are dead and many more wounded after the intense battle between the two parties caused Egypt to slowly become a country drowning in despair and wondering when true independence is going to come. Here in America, Obama stated that he felt like the violence should end, and he condemned the military led government in Egypt for taking too drastic of a measure in trying to curb protesters. While this meant little to nothing to either part in Egypt, I feel that one gesture would truly show Egypt that we expect them to get their act together.

That would be to cut off all funding to Egypt until they can finally decide what direction they want to go in as a nation. For the last year and a half, they have done nothing but fight due to saying that they want a reformed country. However, the reform that they want is not a clear and concise reform, it is rather a muddled mass of ideas and beliefs that often contradict one another. The two main fractions in the nation, the Muslim Brotherhood and those who oppose them want two different things for their nations, and it is as if they need to split the country in half so that both sides can have what they want.

That’s why the U.S. giving money to Egypt is nothing but a waste.  They are not going to fix anything, and they are instead going to encourage a civil war that will bare little to no results. With the economic deficit threatening our country, we need to make sure that our money does not go to such a lost cause, and we need to put our money to work on more important things like supporting our troops or cutting the deficit.  Putting our money into Egypt may make us feel good about ourselves, but it’s just not realistic that it is going to accomplish democracy in Egypt.

But will Obama cut funding? I highly doubt it. He wants to make it look like he supports democracy in the region, and cutting aid will make it seem that he has given up seeking peace in the Middle East. I feel that this is a big mistake though as he will probably garner the anger of the Muslim Brotherhood and human rights groups because they will say he is supporting murder and government violence.  Cutting funding, to me, is the best decision to make, but it’s up to Obama to take action when it comes to this matter. So I guess we will have to wait to see what decision he makes and the consequences it will have on Egypt and the rest of the world.

May God Bless America,

The Generation X Conservative

Writer’s Note: I support doing everything we can to not let the Muslim Brotherhood get control of Egypt, as they are a terrorist group, but I don’t believe that we should spend our money to support other countries conflicts.

Off The Mark: Priebus’ Boycotts Only Distract From Real Life Problems

Like it or not, the Republican National Committee is in trouble. After the last two Presidential elections swept in the favor of the Democrats, they should be focusing their attention on how to get more people interested in their party platform by updating some of their policies of history past. Instead, they are acting like schoolchildren, and this is distracting from important issues that we could be using to garner votes in 2014, 2016, and beyond. I am talking specifically about one man, Reince Preibus, the head of the RNC who made the talk show rounds this weekend to discuss some unimportant issues.

Priebus
(Image Via http://www.policymic.com)

Preibus appeared on CNN where he discussed how he was urging Republicans to boycott CNN and NBC due to the fact that they are scheduled to air a documentary about Hillary Clinton before the 2016 Presidential election. While, the media does have some power, the simple fact of the matter is that these two networks airing Clinton documentaries will probably have no baring on the election. Most people vote on policies, and whether or not they disagree with Clinton’s policies, if she even runs, will cause her to win or lose in 2016. That’s why Priebus needs to tone down his childish games of boycotting networks simply because he does not like Clinton.

Instead, he has plenty that he could have used his face time on national television networks to talk about. This summer has been one for the record books, as it has shown many of Obama’s failures. This has caused his base to become disillusioned with their once infallible President. Take, for instance, the NSA spying programs, Priebus could have talked about how Obama is not a transparent guy after all, and he could have used this to garner support for a limited government candidate in 2016.

Going with the limited government platform, he could have went on to relate the NSA spying with the IRS scandal, which saw officials target conservative groups for extra scrutiny during tax time. This could have been an excellent talking point, but instead he abandoned the opportunity to talk about a documentary that is years from airing. This made him look like a weak guy who was too concerned with partisan politics to focus on the real issues, and this is going to be another reason for people to say that we Republicans are failing as a party. We keep bringing things up that have little to no substance when we could use the time to talk about important issues, and this bothers both Democrats and Republicans.

So as time goes along, we need to fix the problem. We need to not be so childish that we call for boycotts of networks for a simple documentary (maybe produced by Fox by the way), and we need to get our platform out there. We need to focus on the real issues that are affecting Americans such as how to fix the economy and the need for limited government. If we do this, we will hopefully see a Republican take the White House in 2016.
